The Nashville Predators have kept busy this Saturday, sending Hamhuis' rights to the Philadelphia Flyers for youngster Ryan Parent. The Philadelphia Flyers will also recieve a conditional pick from the Predators in 2011 if the Flyers are successful in signing Hamhuis to a contract. Hamhuis, a 27 year old veteran defenseman, is this summer's most prized defenseman on the free agent market. If the Flyers can get him signed to a long-term deal, they will have vastly improved their team immediately. He is a top four defenseman, who can eat up big minutes and add some scoring.

In the deal, Nashville re-acquires Parent, who was sent to the Philadelphia Flyers in the Forsberg deal. Parent is a former first round pick who has shown promise. The Preds will hope that he can eventually step in a fill the void left by Hamhuis.
